Duane Detjens started StoneRidge in 2004 because of early feedback on his meat stick and summer sausage recipes, where friends mentioned his recipes were head and shoulders above the competition.
That's why Duane quickly assembled a team of industry experts, with over 100 years of experience, to create the best meat sticks and smoked summer sausage on the market. These meat sticks needed to have the fine grain texture and “snap” that meat sticks in the early 20th century had. Summer sausage needed to be smoked in a pit for 18-24 hours, and not have artificial smoke flavoring added that makes the sausage greasy. This is why is our tagline is “Old Fashioned Quality”, no shortcuts, period.
Along the way, Duane and his team rapidly expanded production due to high demand for the meat sticks and summer sausage. Not more than five years into operation, StoneRidge had to expand to Coloma, WI to begin fulfilling the orders of its ever-growing customer base.
